About Us

Welcome to The Local Book Club!

We are an educator led organisation with a goal to bridge the gap between educators, authors, and parents. Making reading guidance clear and accessible . We carefully review and recommend books, considering their suitability, themes, and quality, while also helping parents understand the next steps in their child’s reading development.

We find hidden treasures tucked away in charity shops and local libraries, uncovering forgotten classics, cult favourites, and beloved stories. We also recommend books that we’ve found to be loved and enjoyed in our classrooms.

Together, we’re making reading more exciting, purposeful, and empowering for every child. Once we’ve finished reviewing a book, we give our copy a new life by putting it online for a giveaway, allowing another reader the chance to enjoy. We love the idea of stories living on and keeping great books circulating instead of gathering dust on a shelf.
